I'm trying to upsample this dataframe to a daily frequency. The idea is to put zero values for the upsampled items. I get the following error in my shell:

'TypeError: Only valid with DatetimeIndex, TimedeltaIndex or PeriodIndex, but got an instance of 'RangeIndex'

(note: I'm working in a django project and have turned my query set into a dataframe)

import my model:

from items.models import Item 

Turn a query set into a dataframe:

pd.DataFrame(list(Item.objects.filter(feeder__slug='slugger').values('date','amount')))

Put data as first column:

a = a[['date','amount']]

upsample:

a.resample('D').pad()
