I've built an API using Express and Node js and I have it logging to both the console and a file. I'm using winston and express-winston to log request info and the timestamp for each request. This works fine when running it from my terminal but when I run it as a background process, the time that gets logged is the time when it started running in the background rather than the current time.
I've tried several methods for logging the timestamp including using a js Date(), using moment js, using the winston method winston.format.timestamp(), and using child_process.spawnSync("date") to get the date straight from the the Linux OS.
