[Oreoryzomys] balneator: Weksler, Percequillo, and Voss, 2006


페루쌀쥐(Oreoryzomys balneator)는 비단털쥐과 쌀쥐족에 속하는 설치류이다.[2]에콰도르와 페루 북부의 해발 1500~1800m 운무림에서 발견된다. 페루쌀쥐속(Oreoryzomys)의 유일종이며, 2006년까지는 쌀쥐속(Oryzomys)에 포함되었다.[3] 속명은 이전 속명 "오리조미스"(Oryzomys)와 함께 "산"(mountain)을 의미하는 그리스어 "오로스"(ορος)의 조합에서 유래했다. 최근의 연구 결과 페루쌀쥐는 쌀쥐속과는 관련이 없으며, 대신에 거친털생쥐속(Neacomys) 그리고 피그미쌀쥐속(Oligoryzomys)과 함께 하나의 분류군을 형성하는 작은쌀쥐속(Microryzomys)과 관련이 있는 것으로 추정하고 있다. 귀는 짧다.


등은 황갈색과 황록색의 중간색을 띠고 배 쪽의 털은 희거나 누르스름하며 두 부분이 명확하게 분리된다. 뒷발의 발톱 밑면에 술 모양의 털이 나 있다. 꼬리는 길고 아랫쪽 보다 윗쪽이 약간 진한 색을 띤다.
