I want to play with android camera and maybe build an rower and possibly add server AI processing so it could detect objects..
So my question is:
How to capture 10 or more frames per second in Bitmap / jpeg format. I don't wanna do video encoding. Currently I can capture 1-2 frames per second with android camera API.
I'm sending the image to my PC over socket and saving it to disk from java server. I just can't figure out how to do it faster if possible?

Using video format solves the problem of sending the result to PC or saving to file. With 10+ images per second, the file system may be a bottleneck, too. But if your device has raw capture capabilities, you can receive from camera what you need. Often these devices support burst capture, too. But burst capture is often limited to dozen frames or a bit more. That's because of the bottlenecks I mentioned before.
