I have a script that may take up to 6 hours to run, and ideally it would be executed via a terraform local-exec, since the script is built using terraforms templating feature.
However, terraforms local-exec provider does not support more than about 30 minutes timeout, so jobs running longer than that will fail.
I could just separate the script run from the terraform component, using a Jenkins pipeline to run the script in a separate stage, however I really would like a smoother integration than this.
Is there perhaps a workaround which would allow long running jobs to be executed via terraforms local-exec despite the low timout?

Why use local-exec? Why not use userdata and run the script in the background? Inside userdata, you can just run: "./script.sh &"
