I have a job where I bulkload around 5000 hfiles. I get error

ERROR [main] mapreduce.LoadIncrementalHFiles (LoadIncrementalHFiles.java:doBulkLoad(452)) -
"Bulk load aborted with some files not yet loaded"
hdfs://..../file1
hdfs://...file2

Exception in thresad "main" java.io.IOException: Retry attempted 20 times without completing, bailing out
at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.mapreduce.LoadIncrementalHFiles.doBulkLoad(LoadIncrementalHFiles.java:416)
..

I have already increased the number of retries from 10 to 20, and it has brought down the frequency of failures, but not completely remediated.

What is the remedy for this? Can hadoop not automatically determine the number of splits it needs for each hfile, rather than sequentially creating splits while trying to fit new hfiles into regions?
